The Jabeccawalk Poem

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

"Let’s oft on a Jabeccawalk, my brother!”
Said Becca to Jarrod, the words did catch!
Said Jarrod, “Yes, but beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his pack and stick in hand:
Long time the wild trail he sought--
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And, beside him, there brave Becca stood,
The Jabeccawalk , with trail untamed,
Would twist before them, through the tulgey wood,
A hike so epic, “The Jabeccawalk” it must be named!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
As tree and branch went snicker-sneeze!
They march on through, and with a cause:
Raise money for MS, the dread disease!

"And hast thou hiked the Jabeccawalk?
Come to my woods, my beamish two!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!"
So chortled the joyous crew.

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

(Based on the Lewis Carroll poem “The Jabberwocky.”)

  2. We got to meet these two last evening at the Len Foote Hike in just before the start of their trek. God Bless them and we plan on following their progress. If they ask, we are the couple from the Gatlinburg, TN area. When they get to our area, let them know that we will be glad to shuttle them to town for groceries and offer a place for some "down time" if they need it. Randy and Terry!

  3. Dad got your message yesterday and said you put your first foot on the actual trail at 10:30 on 3/21. Way to go! I hope your first nights under the stars are spectacular and restful. Keep it going and we can't wait to hear from you. Love you! Mommo

Met "Hansel" today at deli in Stormville NY at noon. Chatted for a while and gave him ride back to trailhead. Very nice kid. I can tell he will be successful in whatever he does, and wish him well as his trip goes on.
